From the beginning of history some distinguished people stood out in helping our society to evolve so as to reach its current form.

Astronomers

                                1.  ARISTARCHUS OF SAMOS

Aristarchus of Samos was an ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician. He first argued that the sun is the center of the universe and the earth goes round its axis, and he also interpreted the cycle of the seasons of the year.

  2. CLAUDIUS PTOLEMAEUS  

                                               

Claudius Ptolemy was a natural philosopher. He believed the Earth is global and - largest of all the celestial bodies.

Hipparchus was an astronomer, geographer and mathematician. He estimated the diameter of the Moon and the distance from the Earth.

He also invented the scale of sizes of the stars according to their brightness, which is still used today.
